Winter Closet
The Winter Closet, operational from October to March, generously offers coats and winter accessories to adults and children in need. Beginning in September, we welcome donations every Tuesday from 10 AM to 6 PM at our downtown Pantry location. This initiative ensures that no member of our community is left in the cold during the harsh winter months. By contributing or utilizing the Winter Closet, you’re part of a caring network committed to warmth and support for all.
Wellness Connections
A central mission of the Saluda Pantry is promoting community wellness, focusing on community resources and nutrition. We offer updated information on local health services, including general and dental care, mental health, and substance use disorder support. Nutrition education is vital, providing information on using Pantry ingredients for healthy, affordable meals. This includes cooking demonstrations and recipe cards, enriching our community’s health and culinary skills.
Farm-to-Neighbor Program
The Saluda Pantry’s Farm-to-Neighbor program buys fresh produce from local farmers at fair market value for pantry shoppers. Supporting locally and sustainably produced goods benefits our community financially and ecologically. Investing in local agriculture enhances small farm retention as money circulates within the community, supporting businesses and creating jobs. The program provides fresh, local food, prioritizing taste over transport durability. This ensures nutritious, flavorful products for neighbors facing food insecurity.
The educational component teaches shoppers about preparing fresh vegetables, from cooking demonstrations to recipe cards, maximizing the value of high-quality produce.
